TAAG Order 6 New Airbus A220-300 Following Partnership Agreement With ALC

TAAG Angola Airlines will receive six aircraft Airbus A220-300 to be delivered in phases – from 2023 until 2024 – after a lease agreement with ALC which is placing the orders to Airbus manufacture. Moreover, 5 of 6 aircraft ordered are scheduled to be delivered between January-July 2023.

TAAG is therefore reinforcing the fleet and for the first time introducing a «multi-brand» strategy by incorporating Airbus into its operation. The lease agreement format was the most agile and financially sustainable model complying with the company’s current context.

The Airbus A220-300 are state-of-the-art aircraft concerning efficiency and average fuel consumption. TAAG expects savings of around 30% in fuels – when compared to existing Boeing 737 models on long-haul routes – and a 20% reduction in operational cost globally.

TAAG and ALC partnership was signed during the Farnborough International Airshow 2022, a major event worldwide related to aviation. Thus, Airbus facilitated a symbolic ceremony with its exhibition stand as event venue.

Please be aware that this achievement is a result of direct negotiation led by TAAG new Management Board. This outstanding outcome validate that the company has restored its international reputation while dealing face-to-face with major stakeholders such as Airbus (the largest manufacture company in Europe) and Air Lease Corporation a USbased entity expert in aircraft leasing with more than 100 customers in over 60 countries.

“Today we start our relationship with ALC incorporating six new Airbus A-220-300 into our fleet. It’s indeed a significant announcement for us as we are celebrating a new era and a new vision for TAAG. We are alive, back in business, breaching with the past to achieve greater results and becoming a reference for Africa. This partnership emphasizes our commitment to grow and further improving our credibility among international stakeholders while creating a new value proposition for our passengers.” Eduardo
Fairen, CEO TAAG.

Both Airbus A220-300 cabin crew and maintenance team will be local content under the
umbrella of the training and know-how transfer procedures agreed.
