Cameroon’s National Civil Aviation Security Committee held its second meeting of the year 2022 was chaired by the Minister of Transport Jean Ernest Masséna NGALLE BIBEHE assisted by Mrs. Avomo Assoumou Paule épse KOKI, Director General of the Aeronautical Authority, who invited the actors present to more collaboration and pooling of efforts for effective implementation of security measures in airports in the face of the common challenges that challenge Cameroonian civil aviation.
Regarding the work of the CNS during the meeting, they focused on the security situation in Cameroon’s airports, the update on the preparation of the security audit that Cameroon will host in 2023; emerging threats, in particular those of MANPADS (Man Portable Air Defense System) and CYBER THREATS, and the monitoring of partnership agreements with partner administrations.
The meeting was also held at a period when the security system has recorded many problems in terms of equipment, infrastructure and staff training and at a time when civil aviation is facing certain exogenous factors that jeopardize security. These are the invasion of airport areas by homes and various activities near airports, particularly at Douala International Airport; the resurgence of malicious acts such as runway intrusions, vandalism on security fences and lights, and the threat of MANPADS etc. For this purpose,
During the work, rich exchanges were recorded between the members of the Committee, which resulted in beneficial proposals for the Civil Aviation Security system and several recommendations were made. This work saw the presence of the Minister Delegate for Transport, the general directors of the CCAA, Camair-co, and representatives of member administrations of the said committee.
