The iSASO/ICAO-ESAF Aerodrome Certification Workshop kicked off today (16 January 2023) in Midrand, South Africa bringing together delegates from the South African region.
The iSASO/ICAO – ESAF Aerodrome Certification Workshop hosted in South Africa is on course until 20 January 2023 and covers among other aviation aspects, aerodrome certification procedures, and aerodrome risk analysis among others.
In welcoming the delegates, South Africa Civil Aviation Authority Executive: Aviation Infrastructure, Gawie Bestbier said a major objective of the iSASA charter is enhancing aviation safety and security in our SADC region as well as enhancing the skills of our technical staff, as well as compliance to ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices.
In addressing the SADC delegates, Regional Director ICAO ESAF, Barry Kashambo said: “My hope and desire is that this workshop will not only enhance knowledge and skills on Aerodrome Certification but will also improve the Safety oversight and operational aspects in your respective States. We also hope that this will play a role in improving your State overall Effective Implementation (E.I) under the USOAP CMA Activities which is scheduled in 2023”.
