Eritrea and South Sudan have agreed to establish ways to increase direct flights between the two nations in what is expected to see increased trade between the two Eastern Africa nations
This follows a meeting between the Director General of the Eritrean Civil Aviation Authority and Director of Aviation Safety of South Sudan’s Civil Aviation Authority to discuss ways of improving the aviation sector between them.
In June 2016, Eritrea and South Sudan signed an air agreement with Paulos Kahsai, the Director General of the Eritrean Civil Aviation Authority, and Mr. Stephen Rombe, Director of Aviation Safety and Operation in Civil Aviation Authority of the Republic of South Sudan representing the two countries. Already the Eritrea based private and partner airline company, Nasair-Eritrea has been offering flights to Juba since 2011 while, South Sudan’s Golden Wings Aviation has continued flights between Juba and Asmara from as far back as 2016. Eritrean Airlines has been operating flights to Juba from Khartoum
