Angola Expands Visa Exemption to South African Travellers

TAAG Angola Airlines has welcomed the Angolan government’s decision to exempt citizens from 98 countries from visas, with the aim of stimulating tourism and strengthening international relations. This policy is part of Angola’s efforts to become a more accessible and attractive destination for global travelers.

Although South Africans have enjoyed visa-free entry into Angola since December 2017, they will now benefit from an extended visa-free stay of up to 90 days, significantly longer than the previous allowance. This change is expected to further stimulate the flow of tourists from South Africa to Angola.

In 2023 alone, TAAG operated 1,178 flights between Angola and South Africa, demonstrating the airline’s commitment to providing convenient and streamlined travel services.

During this period, TAAG welcomed 134,473 South African passengers on board, underlining its crucial role in facilitating cultural interactions and ease of travel. The expansion of flight operations, coupled with the recently extended visa-free period, is expected to encourage longer stays and richer cultural engagements.

TAAG is constantly improving its service offerings and adjusting its schedules to meet and exceed passenger expectations, reaffirming its position and vision as the airline of choice in the region.

For South African travelers, TAAG’s extensive network offers convenient stopovers in Angola en route to other destinations. This includes connecting flights to eight African cities and key destinations in Portugal and Spain.

TAAG’s partnership with Iberia also extends its reach to Europe, providing South Africans with even more travel options. With these developments, TAAG will play a key role in not only connecting Angola to the world, but also creating closer ties with the vibrant cities and people of South Africa.
