IndiGo has announced the launch of direct flights between Bengaluru and Mauritius, starting from 19 November 2024. The airline will operate four weekly flights, becoming the first carrier to offer a direct connection on this route. Mauritius will be IndiGo’s 35th international and 123rd overall destination, reinforcing its commitment to expanding connectivity for both business and leisure travelers.
The new route links two significant economic centers: Bengaluru, known as India’s Silicon Valley, and Mauritius, a strategic gateway to East Africa. This service not only caters to the growing demand for tourism but also strengthens trade, investment, and business partnerships between India and the African continent. Mauritius, a key destination for Indian investors, provides an ideal business environment in sectors like healthcare, education, and tourism, further enhancing its role as a hub for African markets.
Vinay Malhotra, IndiGo’s head of global sales, expressed excitement about the addition of Mauritius, a popular beach destination, to the airline’s network. He highlighted the convenience of visa-on-arrival for Indian citizens, making it an attractive option for both leisure and business travelers. IndiGo continues to focus on delivering timely, affordable, and seamless travel experiences.
