Ministry of Digital Transition, Royal Air Maroc, ADD Join Forces to Develop the TravelTech ecosystem in Morocco and Africa.

As part of their ongoing efforts to promote digital transformation, the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, Royal Air Maroc, and the Digital Development Agency (ADD) signed a strategic partnership agreement on Monday, April 14, during the 3rd edition of GITEX Africa, currently taking place from April 14 to 16, 2025, in Marrakech.

This partnership is part of the High Royal Guidelines and the Digital Morocco 2030 strategy and aims to accelerate innovation in the travel sector and position Morocco as a key TravelTech hub on the African continent.

The agreement is based on three major pillars essential to the digital transformation of the airline industry. The partnership includes joint promotion of GITEX Africa, with Royal Air Maroc as the Official Carrier of the event. This collaboration will provide increased visibility for the national airline while offering advantageous pricing conditions to participants and African startups.

The parties also commit to boosting the Moroccan TravelTech ecosystem by identifying, supporting, and promoting innovative startups specializing in the travel and air transport sectors. This commitment will be realized through initiatives such as the RAM Digital Open Innovation program, regional roadshows, mentoring programs, and the creation of a national “TravelTech Innovator” label.

The partnership also provides for knowledge sharing and co-innovation through training initiatives, feedback, and the co-development of solutions to foster the emergence of a collaborative dynamic between public, private, and startup stakeholders.

The agreement also provides for the implementation of concrete measures to accelerate the digitalization of private stakeholders in the travel sector, notably through the provision of the Moukawala Raqmya and Academia Raqmya platforms, as well as the organization of awareness-raising workshops to strengthen their digital skills.

Commitment to Innovation in TravelTech

“This strategic collaboration embodies our shared vision of making digital technology a true growth accelerator for the Moroccan economy and a lever for improving services to citizens. By joining forces, we affirm our ambition to position Morocco as a regional leader in the field of TravelTech,” emphasized Ms. Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, Minister Delegate for Digital Transition and Administrative Reform.

“Through this partnership, Royal Air Maroc reaffirms its commitment to innovation and digital transformation in the airline sector. We are determined to support Moroccan and African startups specializing in the travel industry and digital technology, in line with the Kingdom’s tourism development ambitions and in preparation for the major events that Morocco is preparing to host, such as the African Cup of Nations and the 2030 FIFA World Cup,” said Hamid Addou, Chairman and CEO of Royal Air Maroc.

“ADD is proud to support this pioneering initiative, which combines innovation, entrepreneurship, and international outreach. This partnership embodies a shared ambition: to make Morocco a leading technology hub in Africa by connecting talent, ideas, and opportunities,” said Mohamed Drissi Melyani, CEO of ADD.

By signing this agreement, the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, Royal Air Maroc and the ADD reaffirm their shared desire to accelerate the digital transformation of the airline sector and to open up promising prospects for startups and travel players in Morocco and Africa.
